There are a wide variety of activities to do in Scottsdale, AZ when you have children. During the week, you know your children are being taking care of and their little minds are being filled with knowledge during their time at our WhizKidz Scottsdale Preschool. After school has come to a close, you want to continue with that theme and take them to some neat places nearby in Scottsdale, AZ. From hiking and sightseeing, to learning spots and great places to stop for food, there are plenty of things to entertain your family after the school week has come to a close.
Continuing on with the theme of learning is the Children’s Museum of Phoenix . It is probably at the top of the favorites list for all ages. There are so many different things to do there so all kids have something to do that they can enjoy. Not to mention, the place is HUGE. It has everything from a gigantic climbing fort in the beginning, to a noodle maze that even adults can get lost in.
There is a room where the kids can do art, a separate room just for 3 and under that is gated, and numerous themed rooms where kids can do things like grocery shop and pretend to plant their own flowers.
An outdoor activity, for when the weather isn’t terribly hot and the kids want to get out some of that energy after the school day is done, is McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. This park is a free attraction where kids can get up close to historic trains and train cars, visit a model railroad museum, and they can ride a train through the park. There is a carousel, places for food, and huge play areas as well within this park.
The Butterfly Pavillion in Scottsdale is another great place to take kids to learn a thing or two. It is one of the larget indoor butterfly atriums in the country. The museum features a 3D theater where children can watch in depth videos about the butterflies, butterfly emergence gallery, conservatory, as well as a cafe and gift shop. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of various specifics of butterfly flittering all around you as you walk through this peaceful and unique place. This is right next to the brand new OdySea Aquarium, another amazing spot for you and your children to see.
The heart of Old Town Scottsdale is one of the best sightseeing areas to take kids and adults. There are so many cute little shops and fun things to see down there. Not to mention, there is a ton of shade and everything is air-conditioned. You can take the kids to learn a little bit about the Native and Mexican culture of Arizona and those who lived in the area, and you can take home some really fun goodies from the shops around there at the same time.
